The battery change kit for screw-back watches is the essential tooling to open a case whose back is hermetically screwed. Rather than using a case wrench with pins, this kit offers a non-invasive solution: an adherent synthetic ball that grips the back by friction.
This screw-back watch repair kit allows the easy replacement of your watch battery. The set consists of a battery, an antistatic tweezer, a synthetic ball for screw backs and a nozzle for an inflator that allows the ball to be inflated. Thanks to this watchmaker tool kit, you can easily replace your watch battery if the case is screw-back.
To change the watch battery with this kit, simply inflate the ball with the inflator nozzle (to be screwed first onto an air pump). The ball will allow you to access the inside of the watch, change the battery and close the case again. The antistatic tweezer will allow you to handle and change the battery. This method is particularly suited to screw backs without visible notches or in pristine cosmetic condition.
Screw the inflator nozzle onto an air pump. Place the deflated ball on the back of the watch and inflate it progressively: the ball adheres to the back and allows unscrewing without slipping. Turn the ball anticlockwise to open the case. Once the battery is changed using the antistatic tweezer, close back in the opposite direction. The watch battery available in this kit is to be chosen from the list of batteries available in our online shop.
The synthetic ball is made of durable adherent rubber: it keeps its grip for hundreds of uses. The inflator nozzle is universal and compatible with most standard air pumps.
Can the ball scratch the case?
No, the rubber is non-aggressive and leaves no mark on steel or coatings.
Which inflating pressure should I use?
Inflate progressively until good adhesion is obtained; do not go beyond, as the ball could burst.
Is the kit suitable for all screw-back watches?
It is suitable for the vast majority. For very tightly screwed backs, the use of a pin wrench may be necessary.
