The tool set for changing a snap-back watch battery brings together in one complete kit all the accessories needed to easily replace the battery of a watch with a snap-back case. Designed for hobbyist watchmakers as well as experienced tinkerers, it avoids buying each tool separately.
This set has been designed for watch repair, allowing the easy replacement of a battery on a snap-back case. The kit consists of a case opening tool, a battery, a watchmaker's hammer and an antistatic tweezer. It therefore allows you to easily replace your watch battery if it has a snap-on cover. With the opening tool, you can easily access the inside of the watch. With the antistatic tweezer, you can handle the battery to replace it. Finally, the watchmaker's hammer enables you to seal the cover by tapping lightly on it.
Use this set when the battery of a snap-back watch is empty. The snap-back is characterised by a fine notch on the edge of the cover, into which the blade of the opening tool is inserted to lever. It is the most common system on entry- and mid-range watches.
Locate the notch of the snap back. Insert the blade of the tool and apply gentle leverage to release the cover. Remove the spent battery with the antistatic tweezer and insert the new battery respecting the polarity. Place the cover back and tap lightly with the watchmaker's hammer to seal it. Choose the model of watch battery you need from our selection. Find all the tools of this watch repair kit sold individually in the category Watchmaker tool.
Each tool in the set is designed for repeated use: the steel blade keeps its edge and the hammer has a suitable mass to avoid marking the case. The antistatic tweezer protects the quartz movement.
How do I know if my watch has a snap back?
Look at the back: if it shows a fine notch on the edge, it is a snap back. If it has symmetrical slots for a case wrench, it is a screw back.
Do I need a watch holder?
Not mandatory but recommended: a watch holder keeps the object stable and protects the glass during opening.
How to avoid scratching the case?
Insert the blade gently and lift gradually, avoiding any abrupt slipping.
